(KPL) A new runway at Luang Prabang International Airport has opened.
The opening ceremony of Luang Prabang Airport’s new runway was held on 20 October.
At the event were Deputy Director of Civil Aviation Department, Mr. Vanpheng Chanthaphone, Director of Lao Airline Enterprise, Mr. Somphone Douangdala, Luang Prabang Deputy Governor, Mr. Saisamone Khomthavong and other companies involved in the project.

The rest of Luang Prabang International Airport has now reached a second stage, with a new passenger terminal and an aeroplane parking area under construction, on what was the old runway.
The head of the project, Mr. Sackda Soulisack said the new runway has been completed behind schedule, due to difficult weather conditions.

He also added that the improved infrastructure was now almost 65 per cent complete and would consists of a 2,500m-runway and new public facilities.
